Who doesn’t like fresh cut flowers on the table everyday? But like anything, there’s a right and a wrong time to cut flowers. Flowers contain the highest amount of water in the morning, so a quick trip out to the garden after your cup of coffee is the best time for finding the perfect flower. Remember to place the freshly cut stems into a container of water, this will help retain the water already in the flower. Once it’s time to arrange the flowers in your vase, give the stems another little trim while still under water, this will help prevent air from entering the stem. Air can actually prevent the flowers from absorbing water, leaving you with a vase full of sad looking flowers on the table.
